the general stuff
Practice: you are welcome to practice any time after 10am (1pm Tuesdays) until dusk if there’s a rink free, you can check online through Bowlr. If there is a free rink, just turn up (you can’t book a rink for practice, however, there’s usually plenty of availability).
Coaching: initial coaching sessions are given to all prospective members. After this, any of the coaches will willingly give you advice and support in developing your skills.
Keys: if you would like a key to access the green, contact the Assistant Secretary.
Equipment: you can use the Club’s bowls until you decide what type of bowl suits you. Although a new set can be expensive, they last and can be bought second hand.
Dress: flat soled bowls shoes only for the green; grey or black trousers, skirt or shorts; club shirt and white jumper. Some competitive matches are played in white trousers, skirt or shorts. Waterproofs (white) are also recommended for matches as they don’t stop for rain.
the social events
Coffee mornings: fortnightly on Wednesdays from 10-11.30am. All members and friends are very welcome to come and enjoy tea or coffee and homemade cakes.
Socials: there are various social events throughout the Winter months, including craft afternoons and games evenings. There is also a crib team in a local league.
Visitors: you are welcome to bring visitors to the Club to watch a match or join in social events.
the communication
Noticeboards: there is a great deal of information on club noticeboards, including information about matches, social events and much more, so do have a look.
Emails: information is often sent out this way, so keep an eye out for emails.
